Intranet! Intranet! Intranet!

We’ve got a whole lot of intranet goodness happening this coming month…

Intranets2011

I’ll be attending and presenting at Intranets2011 in Sydney on 11th-12th May – I’ve been asked to help get attendees buzzing by talking about social business design and intranets (a topic that my colleague Dion Hinchcliffe has also been covering at some similar northern hemisphere conferences):

Strategies for creating a social workplace with your intranet

Intranets may not be naturally social, but the people who use them and organisations where they exist certainly are. How do we go about using social solutions to strategically transform how people are able to work together and at the same time overcome the failures of traditional intranets, knowledge management tools and other information systems?

  • An exploration of the key aspects of a social workplace
  • A critique of strategies: top-down versus bottom-up, pilots versus “big bang”, centralised versus decentralised
  • An introduction to the role of design thinking as part of your strategy

There are a great line up of speakers along side me at Intranets2011. I’m really looking forward to engaging with the intranet community at this conference, who appear to be switching on with more serious interest in this groundswell around ‘social’ intranets (or what some of you might call Enterprise 2.0 and we call the workforce collaboration domain).

The 2.0 Adoption Council in the Asia Pacific

The 2.0 Adoption Council LogoIf you work in a large organisation based in the Australia or Asia Pacific region and have already embarked on this journey towards creating a social intranet, you might like to consider joining the Asia Pacific chapter of The 2.0 Adoption Council.

The 2.0 Adoption Council is a member-driven peer forum of business and IT leaders from large organisations intent on sharing concrete experiences, examining business implications, learning from peers and creating and capturing value from the emergent, unstructured data associated with Web 2.0 / Enterprise 2.0.

We are hosting a briefing by Webinar for prospective members on May 10th (the day before Intranets2011).

Intranet Innovation Awards

Finally, Step Two Design – the organisers of Intranets2011 – are also running their Intranet Innovations Awards competition again this year and are currently accepting submissions. These awards recognise individual intranet improvements, and not intranets as a whole. Entries close on 31 May.
