5 challenges of hybrid work and how to overcome them
Jakkii says: welcome back to our Friday Faves for another year! We’re easing back into things, so kick us off for the year, I’ve got an easy reading piece from the Harvard Business Review that takes a look at five challenges organisations and teams may face with hybrid work and how they may overcome them.
For the authors, the five challenges they’ve called out are:
-
Communication;
-
Coordination;
-
Connection;
-
Creativity; and
-
Culture.
For anyone who’s worked or is working in a hybrid work environment, these challenges are likely to be familiar – maybe more than we’d like. The author goes on to point out that it’s not likely that these challenges will go away any time soon, probably much to everyone’s chagrin, but there are things we can do to manage and, ideally, overcome these challenges. For the author, these strategies are based upon a checklist they call ‘the 5Cs checklist’, so named for the 5 ‘C’ word challenges identified above. Essentially, the checklist is simply a basic framework for assessing how each of these challenges is or has impacted your team and developing a plan of attack for mitigating and eventually overcoming the impact of these challenges.
I’d love to hear your thoughts about the challenges of hybrid work and what has – and hasn’t! – worked for you. Let me know in the comments or on social media.
